Schröder LT Tonearm

The Schröder LT is one of the most advanced turntable tonearms
in the world. Although it may not look like it, its design incorporates unique
patented solutions. The name “LT” comes from the term
“Linear Tracking,” which refers to the linear movement of the cartridge (needle)
relative to the record. In a traditional tonearm, the cartridge moves in an arc,
which causes unwanted
distortions during playback.
“Tangential” arms are theoretically free of this
problem but are burdened with many others. For those who wish to delve into

There have been many attempts to design tonearms that function this way, and in theory
everything looked fine. However, putting theory into practice wasn’t so
simple, and currently only two companies successfully manufacture tonearms of this type,
although their technical solutions differ. The Schröder LT tonearm is
the epitome of precision and musicality. To ensure proper operation,
bearings with virtually zero resistance are used. The tonearm tube is made
of “wood.”Quotation marks were used intentionally because, after
many hours of processing, its structure is so altered that it
only appears to be wood. The internal wiring consists of a single
length of 6N-purity copper wire. The insert
is mounted on the tonearm via a backing plate, which
means we can use plates made of various materials,
allowing us to adjust the tonearm’s effective mass and providing great
versatility in cartridge selection.
