DS W3
The DS W3 is the third model, following the Grand Master and the 003, to utilize a third-generation generator. It is based on independent optical systems for each channel. The design of the third-generation generator has increased the cartridge’s output level to 70 mV, which has significantly improved the signal-to-noise ratio and channel separation. The use of independent optical systems for the right and left channels has reduced the vibrating mass by optimizing the shape of the “aperture.” It is smaller and made of pure beryllium; in the previous model, it was made of aluminum. The W2 model features a line-contact stylus. In the “preamplifier,” the circuitry has been optimized to work with the third-generation cartridge, and a laminate with a copper layer twice as thick has been used. These changes have had a significant impact on the quality of the reproduced sound. The equalizer is equipped with balanced and unbalanced outputs. All components (cartridge, preamp) are hand-assembled, and each unit is inspected and tested before leaving the factory.
