HEROS

The designs by Thrax Audio’s engineers are intended to uncompromisingly combine the highest-quality materials with innovative engineering. Heros is the next step toward creating devices that embody this idea.
Heros are hybrid monaural Class A power amplifiers. The two-stage design uses JFET/MOSFET transistors connected in cascade. A 5687 dual triode is used at the input. A matching transformer is used at the output. This solution is not very common in solid-state designs because it incurs additional costs, but the benefits it provides are significantly greater. “Uncompromising” is no empty phrase here—the use of these solutions delivers nearly twice the efficiency compared to “standard” Class A designs. The circuit architecture is fully symmetrical. Like all Class A devices, the Heros monoblocks generate significant amounts of heat. To effectively dissipate the accumulated heat, the entire enclosure acts as a heat sink. It is made of anodized aluminum, and the panels are nearly 30 mm. When assembled, along with the internal partitions, they form an exceptionally rigid and compact structure. Its robust and well-thought-out design ensures vibration damping and isolation of individual components from one another. The rear panel of the enclosure features three switches that allow you to select the gain level for the power amplifiers, choose between RCA and XLR inputs, and match the speaker impedances. The device’s operation is managed by a microprocessor, which also monitors its performance.
