The PP-1 phono preamplifier is a circuit designed to work with cartridges with low, medium, and high output levels. Its compact size allows it to be placed near the turntable, thereby reducing signal loss caused by long cables used to transmit the signal from the cartridge. The entire power supply system is housed in a single enclosure; only the 24V transformer is located externally. This is intended to minimize the impact of magnetic fields on sensitive electronic circuits. The compact dimensions also allow for close component placement and shorten the signal path inside the preamplifier. All components are mounted on a high-quality printed circuit board designed using CAD software, which enabled the creation of a circuit optimized for audio applications with a very high gain factor (1280x).

The PP-1 is optimized for use with MC cartridges and has no gain switches or input impedance controls. This design simplifies the signal path and shortens it. Two precisely matched bipolar transistors per amplification stage ensure excellent stability and an extremely fast transient response. . Each channel operates on the basis of a 2-stage amplifier with negative feedback. All passive components responsible for RIAA equalization are selected with a 1% tolerance, including the capacitors. The upper frequency response extends to 650 kHz with a -3 dB roll-off. A subsonic filter operating at 10 Hz is located between the input stage and the RIAA equalization circuit.
