Thales – X-quisite

HiFiction AG—the name of the company that manufactures tonearms and turntables under the Thales brand, as well as cartridges under the X-quisite brand—was founded by Mich’e Huber.
Micha is a classically trained musician and mechanical engineer. His love of music—or rather, of its faithful reproduction—and his passion for precision engineering led him to design turntable tonearms. The basis of this design is Thales’s Theorem for a circle. This also explains the origin of the name. The time spent on calculations and theory resulted in the construction of a tonearm whose tracking error—the deviation of the “needle” from the groove—is in the thousandths of a degree. This tonearm was patented by the Swiss Patent Office in 2005. Interestingly, the smallest component used in the bearing assembly weighs 0.009 grams, and the precision with which the entire unit was manufactured falls within a tolerance of less than 1 µm.
The company is headquartered in Winterthur, Switzerland, and, like many manufacturers of this type, its staff consists of enthusiasts. Since entering the audio market, the Thales brand has gained worldwide recognition, and its products will also be available here.
