M2 SERIES

This precision tonearm incorporates technical solutions that are well-known and have long been used by SME. The M2 series works perfectly with a very wide range of cartridges, with a particular focus on those with medium and low compliance. The tonearm is available in three lengths: 9, 10, and 12 inches. The tonearm tube is made of steel. The tonearm head is made of a magnesium alloy in a shape that gives the body high rigidity and low mass. The head-mounting bayonet ensures a precise and rigid hold in the arm and allows for azimuth adjustment. The arm base allows for precise adjustment of the height and the horizontal reading angle (HTA). The anti-skating system is based on a tried-and-true solution using a string with a weight attached to one end.  Optionally, the arm can be equipped with an oil-based vibration damping system (FD-M2). The damping operates in both planes and can be adjusted to achieve optimal results. The arm is equipped with high-quality bearings that allow for free movement in two planes—applying a force of just 0.02g is enough to cause it to swing.
The M2 SERIES consists of three arm models:

The M2-9 model is the base version of this series, with a distance of 233.2 mm between the tonearm axis and the stylus. Its effective mass is 9.5 grams.

The M2-10 model is nearly identical to the M2-9 model, except for the distance between the tonearm axis and the stylus, which in this case has been increased by 6.1 mm. The effective mass is 9.6 grams.

In the M2-12 model, the distance between the tonearm axis and the cartridge is 308.8 mm, which requires installation in a turntable with a sufficiently large chassis. With the use of a suitable tonearm, it can be adapted to turntables designed for 9-inch tonearms. Distortions caused by an incorrect tracking angle are approximately 25% lower for tonearms of this length compared to 9-inch tonearms. The effective mass is 12 grams.
