Bordeaux
Bordeaux uses a stylus with a contact area of 80 μm and a Super Micro Line cut, which precisely follows the groove.
A 0.4-millimeter-diameter sapphire tube was selected for the construction of the support arm. By using sapphire, which is characterized by excellent sound transmission and hardness, Bordeaux achieved high-speed vibration transmission without any distortion. Bordeaux used sapphire not only for the construction of the cantilever but also for the base. The base, which comes into contact with the cartridge head, is made of a 2.5-millimeter-thick plate of pure sapphire. As a result, the vibration transmission mechanism was constructed as a single unit, which made it possible to completely eliminate signal loss.
The magnetic circuit is made of soft electromagnetic iron and a samarium-cobalt magnet, which allows for magnetic properties tailored to the vibrations of the voice coils, thereby ensuring overall balance and sound density. The pins are gold-plated to improve contact between the terminals.
The Bordeaux body is handcrafted and finished using the traditional Japanese urushi technique on Extra-super duralumin (AL7505). The urushi coating on each Bordeaux body undergoes a series of intricate processes, performed by hand by artisans from Urushi Sakamoto—a company with a long-standing tradition—to achieve rigidity and the beautiful texture of the Bordeaux color. The details of the Etsuro Urushi Bordeaux insert are captivating and immediately noticeable at first glance.
